Director of Coaching
Ryan Gottier spent the previous five years working in a variety of roles within Quincy United Soccer Club in Quincy, IL. He began working with the club in 2013 as a travel team head coach and assistant for the developmental program. In 2014, Gottier was hired as the Director of Coaching for the club and was employed in that part-time role for two years. He transitioned into the role of Executive Director for Quincy United Soccer Club in 2016.
During his time with Quincy United, Ryan was a catalyst for several positive changes that occurred for the advancement of the club. Some of these changes include: partnering with a regional DA as well as other local soccer organizations; revising the QUSC website to be more informative and comprehensive; instituting bi-annual coaching education; devising a clear player development pathway; improving grassroots developmental soccer programming; implementing an internship program in conjunction with several local institutions; informing families and players of the college recruitment process and increasing opportunities for exposure; and educating parents on the role they can play in the development of their child.
Prior to moving into a full-time position with the club, Ryan functioned as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach and Mabee Sports Complex Director at Hannibal La-Grange University from 2013-2016. During his time at HLGU, the men’s soccer program compiled a 42-26-9 cumulative record. HLGU spent time ranked in the top #25 during the 2013 and 2016 seasons and won the American Midwest Conference in 2016.
Before relocating to the Midwest, Gottier was the Athletic Director, Boys PE teacher and Head Girls’ Soccer Coach at Calvary Christian Academy in Cumberland, MD from 2010-2013. The girls’ soccer program was 37-11 during this period and won the league championship in 2013. While in western Maryland, Ryan was also instrumental in starting a community soccer club in which he functioned as club president and travel team head coach.
Gottier graduated from Liberty University in 2010 where he majored in Kinesiology: Health and Physical Education. In 2014, he graduated from Ohio University with a master’s degree in Athletic Administration. Additionally, Ryan has earned his USSF C license, NSCAA Premier Diploma, USYS National Youth Diploma and a variety of other youth and goalkeeping licenses along the way.
Ryan Gottier resides in Quincy with his wife Katelyn and son Rory.
